What's the St Patrick's Day weather forecast for Ireland from Met Éireann?

Sometimes it can be dazzling on St Patrick's Day in Ireland on other occasions it can be drenching, the 2023 edition looks to be leaning towards a typically Irish day of weather.
Met Éireann says St Patrick's morning will be generally cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle. It says the rain will be followed by scattered showers and occasional sunny spells through the afternoon and evening.
It warns that some showers will be heavy, particularly in the west with isolated thunderstorms possible over Connacht. However, it will be drier in the east and northeast.
Thankfully, it won't be cold as the forecaster expects temperatures to go into mild double figures peaking at 14 degrees in a moderate south to southeast breeze.
As for the holiday weekend, Met Éireann expects the weather to be generally unsettled with rain and showers at times.
There'll also be no tornados like what was recorded in Meath in 1995 which caused a parade in Louth to be called off. Read more about the upcoming weather below tweet.
