Woman accused of assaulting a garda in Laois

The woman appeared before Portlaoise District Court
A woman appeared in court accused of assaulting a female garda in Laois.
Samantha Monaghan (28) of Tullamoy, Stradbally is charged with assaulting a female garda at Portlaoise Garda Station on April 27 last. She is further accused of being intoxicated, threatening or abusive and failing to give her name to gardaí at Main Street, Stradbally on April 27, 2024.
The defendant, who appeared in court via video link, is also accused of being intoxicated on Main Street, Stradbally on March 14, 2022.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said he didn’t yet have directions in relation to the alleged assault on a garda from the DPP.
Judge Nicola Andrews remanded the case back to Portlaoise District Court on June 10.
