A woman appeared in court accused of a number of counts of hit and run in Portlaoise.
Jane Doherty (41) of Knockanina, Mountrath, is accused of hit and run by failing to remain at the scene, failing to stop, failing to report and failure to offer assistance at the LOETB College, Mountrath Road, Portlaoise on April 16, 2026. She is also accused of being intoxicated at Old Knockmay Road, Portlaoise on the same date.
Solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said he was previously on record for the woman.
Judge Susan Fay said the case was in for a plea or a date for hearing. She noted there was a dispute ongoing between solicitors and the Department of Justice and she asked the woman if she wanted the case put back to a later date.
The defendant said she would like the case put back and Judge Fay adjourned the matter back to Portlaoise District Court on September 10 for a plea or a date.
