A woman appeared before Portlaoise District Court

A woman allegedly hit another woman twice in the face with a glass causing it to smash at a Portlaoise nightclub.

Ciara Langford, 21, of Morrett, Emo, is accused of assault causing harm at Lilly’s, Main Street, Portlaoise on July 30 last year.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the incident is alleged to have taken place in a nightclub at around 2am when a woman was struck twice in the face with a glass which smashed.

He showed photographs of the injured party to Judge Nicola Andrews but she wanted to see a medical report.

“I don’t know, was there a fracture or stitches?” said Judge Andrews.

She reserved the issue of jurisdiction and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on May 20.
