Yellow box sought at Portlaoise housing estate entrance

A yellow box is wanted at the entrance to a Portlaoise housing estate that lies off a busy regional road.
Ashton Manor is a mature housing estate on a local road, at a hilly junction off the Mountrath R445 road, made busier since Laois County Council built ring roads either side of it to divert traffic away from Portlaoise town centre.
Cllr Catherine Fitzgerald described the entrance as being "between two roundabouts".
She tabled a motion to the September meeting of Portlaoise Municipal District, asking the council to paint the yellow box, which comes with a rule that drivers cannot enter it unless they have a clear exit.
She was successful in her request, and the box will be painted.
