Young Laois man who tragically drowned abroad is named locally

RIP
A young Laois man who tragically died in Greece at the weekend has been named locally as Rory Deegan from Cullohill.
The 22 year-old lost was on the Greek island of Zakynthos when the tragedy occurred on Sunday.
It’s believed he was found unresponsive in a pool by friends and despite efforts at resuscitation, he was pronounced dead.
It’s understood the student had been on holiday with a number of friends from the Laois area when tragedy struck.
Rory attended Colaiste Mhuire Johnstown and played for Harps GAA.
He comes from a very popular well known family and his parents Joe and Diane Deegan run Deegan’s Centra in Urlingford.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is reportedly providing consular assistance to the family.
