ALERT | Dangerous condition of bridge leads to emergency Longford road closure

Motorists and the public are being alerted to the fact that the dangerous condition of a bridge has led to an emergency Longford road closure.
Due to the dangerous condition of a bridge in the Townlands of Lisameen and Currygrane, Longford County Council are closing the L1065 Road between Edgeworthstown and Ballinalee with immediate effect.
The road will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Traffic travelling from Ballinalee to Edgeworthstown should divert east along the R194, to Listraghee and then turn right onto the L-1070 (and L-1089) and proceed to Edgeworthstown.
Traffic travelling from the Drumlish direction towards Edgeworthstown should divert at Doherty’s Cross east along the R194, through Ballinalee to Listraghee and then turn right onto the L-1070 (and L-1089) and proceed to Edgeworthstown.
Local access as far as the Lisameen/Currygrane bridge will be maintained, but there will be no through access after today.
