ALERT: Five day closure of street in Longford town
Great Water Street in Longford town will be temporarily closed from 8am-5pm each day from Monday, September 21 to Friday 25.
Drivers heading into Longford town are being urged to take note of a temporary road closure coming into effect next week.
Great Water Street, just off Main Street, will be closed to traffic for five days from Monday, September 21 to Friday, September 25, to facilitate road widening works.
The work comes following calls made by Councillor Niall Gannon at a meeting of Longford County Council earlier this year to widen the road so that cars could pass each other without having to mount the kerb or risk clipping a wing mirror.
Said Cllr Gannon, “This work is taking place next week and the road will be closed unfortunately. Hopefully it will be worth it when it’s completed though.”
The closure will be in effect from 8am until 5pm daily.
A traffic management system along with signed diversions will also be in place for local traffic.
