Court date for man arrested over Longford public order incident

A man in his 30s who was arrested by Gardaí following a public order incident on Longford's Main Street will appear before the local district court on Tuesday week next.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident shortly after 5pm and a spokesperson from the Garda Press Office confirmed, 

"One man aged in his 30s was arrested following a public order incident that occurred at approximately 5:15pm yesterday, Wednesday, 24th of January 2024.

"He has since been charged and is due to appear before a sitting of Longford District Court on the 6th of February 2024."

A video of the alleged incident has been circulating online on social media platforms and the spokesperson remarked, 

"An Garda Síochána do not comment on third party videos or social media posts."
