ENDA Whitney from Edgeworthstown has performed at Galway Comedy Festival for the first time.

Enda took to the stage at the international festival on Sunday, October 25.

Speaking to Longford Live following his debut at the biggest comedy festival in Ireland, Enda said there was a “great buzz” at the sold out shows. “It couldn't have went better.” He hopes to perform at the festival every year going forward.

“It was great to do a gig with Bernard Casey, Micky Bartlett, Darragh Bourke... It was a real privilege to share the stage with them.”

The popular festival takes place over seven days, featuring shows with 80 comedians including Tommy Tiernan, Dara O'Briain, Rhys Darby, Andrew Maxwell, Karl Spain, Jack Dee, Emma Doran, Bernard Casey, Mickey Bartlett, Deirdre O'Kane, Dave McSavage, Al Porter and Matt Wozniac.

Enda also has a show coming up in Rathcoole, Dublin on November 27 at An Poitìm Still Comedy club with Enya Martin, John O'Keeffe and Cormac Moore. Tickets are on sale on Eventbrite.

He has performed all over the world including South Korea, Edinburgh and New York. Enda has worked with stars of Comedy Central in America and many big names in Irish comedy. He is also the co-founder of Red Line Comedy Club. They do a show in Galway every month.

Enda describes his comedy as energetic storytelling. “My comedy is very much about the kind of believable but unbelievable stories all the way through the journey from when I was young to growing up in Longford.”

He first started doing comedy in his twenties whilst studying in Maynooth and took a break from it for a few years before returning to it three years ago. “I was in college in Maynooth. I lost a bet and I ended up doing a competition in the Ha'penny Bar, the Battle of the Acts in Dublin, and I won it and I did comedy for years then, all over Ireland. Did it pretty much as my primary job for a while.”

Red Line Comedy Club is also set to return to Longford in October 2027.

Dawson Hostels in Galway and Busker Brownes are giving away a night's stay for two along with dinner drinks and two tickets to a Red Line Comedy Club show on November 12. To enter follow Dawson Hostels, Busker Brown's and Red Line Comedy Club on Instagram and share the post.
