Two Longford women who pleaded guilty to making off without paying for a hair braiding procedure were told to have money for the injured party in court in July and “no more excuses”.

Martina Nevin (40) and Chloe Nevin (21) both of 25 Lana Aoibhinn, Longford were charged with obtaining a hairdressing service from Charity Odiase Asemota to the value of €300 knowing that payment on the spot was required or expected and dishonestly made off without payment.

The offence took place at 24 Lana Aoibhinn, Longford. Inspector David Jordan told Longford District Court that on Wednesday, November 7, 2021 Garda were called to the home of Charity Asemota.

The injured party explained to officers she was booked to apply hair extensions and braiding for three adults and two children at a cost of €300.

When the work was done the women ran out of the house without paying and got in a car and sped off.

Solicitor for both of the Nevins, Brid Mimnagh, said her clients had had paid €50 each, however Inspector Jordan refuted this claim.

Ms Mimnagh told the court her clients were pleading guilty and accepting responsibility and were willing to pay €100 each “to get the matter over with”.

Noting the incident happened in November 2021 Judge Bernadette Owens said the defendants will “have Rapunzel's hair by the time it's finished.”

The judge adjourned the case to July 4, 2023 for the payment of €100 per person to the injured party. The judge concluded by saying: “No more excuses.”
