Local Gardaí take part in Operation Twin Tracks at Longford Train Station

Operation Twin Tracks, a joint initiative between An Garda Síochána and Irish Rail, was underway in Longford this week as part of a national day of action aimed at improving safety on the rail network.

The operation focuses on tackling antisocial behaviour, preventing crime, and enhancing safety for passengers and staff across the rail system.

As part of the coordinated effort, Gardaí carried out increased visibility patrols and engagement activity at key locations, working alongside Irish Rail staff to deter offending behaviour and reassure the travelling public.

The initiative is designed to strengthen cooperation between the two organisations and to ensure a safe and secure environment for all rail users, particularly during busy travel periods.

Operation Twin Tracks will continue to be rolled out nationwide, focusing primarily on prevention, visibility, and community reassurance.
