Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD announced the funding under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS), which is key to enhancing mountain trails, forest walks, cycleways, rivers and lakes.
Six projects in Longford are poised to each receive €30,000 and they are;
Derrycassin Woods car park

Minister Humphreys stated, “I believe the projects receiving funding will play an important role in attracting more visitors to our rural towns and villages.
“So my big message to people is to get out and explore those hidden gems in your community. The clocks are going forward this weekend – a perfect reason to go on that hike or cycle and enjoy the great outdoors.”
Welcoming the announcement, Senator Micheál Carrigy said, “This funding is going to make a big difference for outdoor amenities in Longford making them even better for local families and visitors alike. We’re now heading into warmer days, it’s more important than ever to get out and make the most of what our countryside has to offer this summer.
