A man charged with trespassing is due to reappear at Longford District Court in June to fix a date for hearing.

Igors Bobelis (60), of Newtowncashel, Lanesboro, Co Longford entered a plea of not guilty to trespassing in a property in Newtowncashel on February 10 of last year.

He also did not turn up to his hearing date and a bench warrant was issued.

Solicitor for the defence, Ms Fiona Baxter, told the court that Mr Bobelis missed his court date because he was “put out of the home he was at and his address changed” and that a new hearing date would be required.

As it stands, there are currently six garda witnesses in the case, but it is hoped that progress will be made in the case ahead of any hearing date.

Mr Bobelis was remanded on continuing bail to June 18, 2024, for mention and to fix a hearing date.
