A defendant who represented himself in a public order case had the charges before the court struck out.

Gareth McHendry (42) of 2 Barry Court, Tarmonbarry, Roscommon faced charges that on December, 21 2021 at Tesco, Longford Shopping Centre he did engage in threatening and abusive behaviour and a similar offence on the same date at Camlin View, Longford.

The defendant said he was not in a position to proceed with the case as he had not been furnished with CCTV footage of the incident.

At a previous court sitting Judge Bernadette Owens had directed the prosecution to make the CCTV footage available to the defendant.

In view of the State's failure to make the footage available to the defendant the judge struck the case out.
