Longford District Court: Fine for public intoxication

A defendant who “appreciated the assistance of Gardai” after he was arrested for public intoxication on St Patrick's Day of last year was fined €150 at Longford District Court.

Noel Small (57) of 8 Greville Court, Granard Longford, was charged with public intoxication on March 17, 2023 at Barracks Street, Granard.

Sergeant Mark Mahon said that at 10:30pm on the evening of the offence the defendant was found in a “highly intoxicated condition” on the street of the North Longford town.

Solicitor John Quinn told the judge his client was embarrassed by his actions, had apologised and appreciated the assistance of Gardaí.

Judge Bernadette Owens registered a conviction and imposed a fine of €150.
