The special film screening and Q&A is part of the Harp Cinema Series in Longford

Award-winning Irish actor Moe Dunford will attend a special screening of the acclaimed Irish film ‘Patrick’s Day’ at PV’s on Ballymahon Street, Longford, on Wednesday, September 16 at 7.30pm.

The screening will be followed by an in-person Q&A with Dunford, discussing his breakthrough performance in the film, his career to date and his upcoming collaboration with Longford production company Harp Media.

The event is the second screening in the Harp Cinema Series, a year-long initiative bringing acclaimed Irish films and filmmaker Q&As to Longford.

The series is supported by Screen Ireland’s Audience Development Fund and Longford County Council’s Night-Time Economy Fund.

Written and directed by Terry McMahon, ‘Patrick’s Day’ follows Patrick, a young man living with schizophrenia whose life changes when he falls in love.

His fiercely protective mother intervenes in the relationship, setting in motion a deeply affecting story about love, independence and the right to determine one’s own life.

Dunford’s performance in the title role marked a major breakthrough in his career and earned him the Irish Film and Television Academy Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role.

He was subsequently selected as one of European Film Promotion’s prestigious European Shooting Stars at the Berlin International Film Festival.

He has since become one of Ireland’s most prominent screen actors, with credits including Vikings, Black ’47, Handsome Devil, Michael Inside, The Dig, Nightride, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Dry.

His performances have earned widespread acclaim and numerous award nominations in Ireland and internationally.

Dunford will also play one of the leading roles in Harp Media’s forthcoming feature film Saint’s Island, which is due to begin filming in Longford this November.

The film will be written and directed by Harp Media co-founders Patrick McGivney and Robert Higgins and is being made with support from Creative Ireland Longford, Longford Arts Office and Longford County Council.

Higgins and McGivney previously wrote and directed the award-winning feature film Lakelands, which won Best Irish Film at the Galway Film Fleadh, received four Irish Film and Television Academy Award nominations and was released in Irish and UK cinemas by Wildcard Distribution.

Further screenings and special guests in the Harp Cinema Series will be announced in the coming months.
