Three seats remain to be filled in the Longford Municipal District with candidates from Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael poised to be elected

After the 13th count for the Longford Municipal District no further candidate has been elected, resulting in the elimination of the lowest candidate Sadia Athar.

Results of the 13th count were announced around 3pm on Monday with no further candidates added to the four candidates elected so far - Seamus Butler, Gerry Hagan, Martin Monaghan and Peggy Nolan.

Niall Gannon of Fine Gael is next in line, sitting in fifth on 821 votes. He is followed by Uruema Adejinni, on 670 votes, Kevin Hussy on 650 votes (both Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin's James Donnelly on 498 votes.

The quota is 854 with only Gannon close to that figure at the moment.

The distribution of second preferences from Sadia Arthar could prove decisive and unless James Donnelly of Sinn Féin can edge ahead of his rivals, he will be eliminated and the seven seats filled.
