It is with much sadness that we record the death of Joseph Kilbride of 'Ellata', Ballyann, New Ross, Co Wexford and late of Cartron, Granard, Co Longford, which occurred on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

Joe, as he was known to family and friends, was son of the late Tommy and Mary Jo Kilbride and was also predeceased by his wife Anne (née Fouhy) in February of this year and by his brothers Seán, Seamus and Paddy and his cousin Joe of Smear, Aughnacliffe.

Joe was employed by Coillte and as a young man his work would bring him all over the country and during this time he met the love of his life Anne Fouhy from Cork and they were married in 1971 and settled in Ballyann outside New Ross in Co Wexford.

Over the years Joe loved returning to his native Granard and always made a special effort to attend funerals of neighbours and friends and this he continued to do up until recently when his health didn't allow him.

Joe loved nature and he loved the land and he was a regular at all Ploughing Championships where he won several trophies for his Loy digging skills.

Joe and Anne reared a family of four children, Roberta (Gallagher), Helena (Coggins) and Fidelma (McGuirk) and Joseph and they passed on a great faith to them and they in turn have passed it to their lovely  families.

Joe reposed in Cooney's funeral home in New Ross on Thursday evening, October 10 and his funeral Mass on Friday, October 11 was celebrated by Fr Roger O'Neill assisted by Joe's cousin Fr Simon Cadam PP Granard in the church of St Anne and St John Rathgarogue and he was laid to rest in the local cemetery.

We extend sincere sympathy to Roberta, Helena, Fidelma and Joseph, grandchildren Diarmuid, Tomás, Grace, Aaron, Hugh, Conan, Aisling, Joseph, Niamh, Sarah and Isobelle, sons-in-law Tom, Chris and John, daughter-in-law Deborah, brothers and sisters Michael, Bernie McGovern (Cloone), Thomas, Maura Kilbride Harkin, Bríd, Sr Roberta Kilbride, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. May he rest in peace.
