Longford was well represented at the Dublin City Marathon on Sunday, with participants taking on the challenge despite wet and windy conditions.
Not even borderline-stormy conditions could deter the strong contingent of Longford participants at yesterday’s Dublin City Marathon.

John Scott was the first runner from the Longford Athletics Club to cross the finish line with a time of 2:46, running an even stronger second half of the marathon. John was also the first master athlete at last weekend’s Longwood 10K.

Fellow club members also put in strong performances, with Longford Athletics Club noting, “Pacing it nicely around Dublin also were Seán Crossan, Enda Coffey and Edel Nolan with it being Edel’s first marathon.”
They added, “Running strongly too was Anne Brady who (along with husband Aidan) completed the 26.2 miles as their children Diarmuid and Maebh were having super runs at the cross country in Roscommon.”
“A good shout for being Longford's fittest family!”

The Brendan Doyle Running Club had a 35 strong team of runners taking part with the event marking the result of 18 weeks of training.
After a successful day on the marathon course, the group gathered for a well-earned break in the Tally Ho, with the pub sharing a photo of the celebrations and congratulating everyone who took part.

They wrote, “Massive well done to all the all who completed the Dublin City Marathon yesterday.”
“A massive achievement and lots of medals on show last night.”

Donning James-face-masks, Rathcline LGFA showed their full support for their manager James ahead of his first marathon.
Taking part as a team of three alongside Mark Fallon and Shane Crawt, the trio ran in aid of the Irish Youth Foundation.
The Rathcline LGFA encouraged people to donate to the iDonate fundraiser which has just surpassed the €3,500 mark.
