Longford's Backstage Theatre to host entertaining, non-verbal show for children

Backstage Theatre is set to stage 'Fergal', a fun-loving non-verbal show for children and families.
The simple story, imaginatively told, follows Fergal to the beach one day where he thinks he is alone at last.
He has the time of his life painting and playing his banjo, thinking he has the whole beach to himself; but things change for Fergal when others arrive.
Co-created and performed by Longford native Darren Yorke Fergal is a beautiful, non-verbal show, featuring one actor and live shadow puppetry, that celebrates independence, being ourselves and the importance of enjoying your own company.
Described as “Like Mr Bean with a whole lot of heart” Fergal explores concepts of individualism and solo experience. In an era of increased social anxiety, child psychologists have identified a growing fear among children of being on their own and an increased inability, among children, of solitary or individual experience.
If you look up “solo” in the dictionary it will say “friendless” or “companionless.”
Fergal aims to celebrate independence, being ourselves and the importance of enjoying your own company.
