'Wave of Light' Longford will be taking place on Tuesday, 15 October. Parents who have experienced baby loss can light a candle and remember their babies together

‘Wave of Light’ Longford will be taking place next week on Tuesday, 15 October as a part of Baby Loss Awareness week.

‘Wave of Light’ gives bereaved parents an opportunity to gather and light a candle to remember their lost babies together.

It is a national and international event. For anyone who cannot attend they can light a candle at home from 7-8pm on 15 October.

This year marks the 22nd year of International Baby Loss Awareness Week.

The week was created to raise awareness on the impact that pregnancy and baby loss has on parents and how important bereavement support is in the ongoing bereavement journey.

The week also highlights the vital work that is needed to improve pregnancy outcomes and babies' lives.

Baby Loss Awareness Week began in 2002 and the first Wave of Light event began in 2003.

Not only does the week aim to help parents who have lost their babies with the bereavement journey but they also are dedicated to preventing baby loss and maternal deaths.
