A man has been convicted and fined for parking illegally outside St Joseph's National School in Longford.

Martin Keenan of 81 Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford appeared in court over the January 23, 2024 incident.

Garda Carl Foley said a complaint was received about a car abandoned in the middle of the road that was obstructing traffic shortly after 3pm.

A registration check listed Keenan as the registered owner.

A fixed charge penalty fine was issued, but it went unpaid.

Defence solicitor Brid Mimnagh said there was no evidence her client had been driving the vehicle.

“I don't know if you will take a certain course judge, I think there may be bigger fish to fry on that," she added.

However, Judge Bernadette Owens decided to impose a €100 fine.
