There was great excitement amongst the piano community on Saturday, June 8 as the talented Jamie Duffy took to the stage to perform at Backstage Theatre, amongst many other things, his composition, Solas.

The well recognised piece has reached an International audience following his appearance on The Late Late Show in 2022.

Jamie, who has very strong Longford links, entertained the audience not only with his own piano pieces but with the low whistle, accompanied by his Grandfather. His work blends traditional, popular and classical influences into his music, to create sounds that are beautiful, evocative and unique.

Local singer, songwriter Emily Doyle was invited to perform as part of the evening and local pianists, Aoife and Ciara Shanley, Ella Grant students of Joanna Pearman, and Anna O'Connor, student of Andrew Yau, warmed up the audience with pieces they are working on at present.

Jamie left Longford to prepare for opening in Hyde Park for Andrea Bocelli. He will be touring Ireland in the Autumn.
