Radiology unit at Longford's St Joseph's campus given ‘full upgrade’ green light
HSE bosses have pledged to carry out a full upgrade of St Joseph's radiology department, it was announced this week.
Longford / Westmeath Fianna Fáil TD Joe Flaherty announced the news, saying pricing on the overall cost of the project was nearing a conclusion.
“I am pleased that the HSE have committed to a full upgrade of all equipment at the radiology room over the next 18 months," he said.
Cllr Peggy Nolan, who raised concerns over the state of x-ray equipment at the Dublin Road facility in March, gave her backing to the announcement but called on health chiefs to fast-track the planned upgrade.
“I welcome that the funding is there, but the 18 month lead in time is far too long,” she said.
“This needs to be prioritised as a matter of urgency because if there is any sort of a breakdown out there, the equipment is then rendered obsolete.”
