UPDATE | Water supply expected to return to all North Longford customers by tomorrow evening
Uisce Éireann working to restore normal water supply
Uisce Éireann, is working to restore normal water supply to the remaining customers supplied by Smear Water Treatment Plant in Co Longford who have been impacted by a recent power outage at the water treatment plant caused by Storm Isha.
While repairs have been successfully completed, some customers in North Longford may continue to experience outages and low pressure as reservoirs continue to replenish following the storm.
Dedicated water services crews continue to work around the clock to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to all impacted customers.
To continue our support to customers, an alternative water supply is still available at three locations: St Mary's Church in Legga, the carpark at the Cross in Aughnacliffe Village, and St Patrick’s National School in Ballinamuck.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per Health Service Executive (HSE) advice.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
John Gavin, Water Operations Lead, said: “We thank impacted customers for their patience as reservoirs continue to replenish with full supply expected to return by tomorrow evening. When water supplies return, we appeal to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.”
