Week long weather advisory for Longford
A moderate weather advisory alert has today been issued
We’re in for a week of temperatures in the high 20’s and possibly even the 30’s.
According to Met Éireann - who today issued a week long weather advisory warning for each county - a “prolonged spell of very warm or hot weather will continue this weekend lasting into next week.”
They continued, “Daytime maxima will widely exceed 25 degrees with values reaching the high 20s, and possibly 30 degrees, in places.”
Met Éireann also warned of thunderstorms possibly developing on Wednesday and Thursday.
Throughout the coming days, the UV Index is expected to range from high to very high, with warm and humid nights hitting 15 degrees or higher.
The meteorological service asked people to remain mindful of the downsides to hot weather, namely animal welfare issues, water safety, potential disruption to public transport, potential drought concerns and potential wildfires and forest fires.
The weather advisory notice will remain in place from 2pm today, Friday July 10, until 12 midnight on Friday 17.
