BREAKING: Explosion heard in Offaly village

AN explosion was heard in Mucklagh village this evening (Monday) after the army bomb disposal unit arrived earlier.

Gardai, plain clothes and uniformed, along with members of the Defence Forces maintained a presence on the main road in the village opposite the church where a laneway is located between a number of  bungalows.

After a number of hours an Explosive Ordnance Disposal vehicle which had been parked close to the road drove down the lane.

At 9.38pm the blast was heard.
