Call for further enhancement of village in Offaly

Cllr Clendennen calls on Council to further enhance Kinnitty village
CLLR John Clendennen has called for Offaly County Council to commit to further enhancing Kinnitty village centre as the unquestionable economic hub servicing the Slieve Bloom Mountains on the Offaly side of the mountain.
Over the past number of years, the Slieve Bloom mountains have benefited greatly from multi million euro investment leading to extensive development works including the construction of the mountain bike trails and a designated pedestrian/cyclist link trail from Kinnitty GAA Grounds to the village centre which is nearing completion.
According to Cllr Clendennen, “the investment has led to a significant increase in visitors to the area and has proven to be a hugely popular recreational facility for the local community.
“I am now calling on Offaly County Council to carry out further works and investment to ensure Kinnitty village centre is, without any doubt or question, identifiable as the mountain bike trails hub. My call includes investment in bike parking and repair stands, water fountains, furniture and public realm enhancement works,” continued Cllr Clendennen.
“I have no doubt that further investment in Kinnitty as well as further promotion by Offaly Tourism and Failte Ireland will attract more small businesses to open in the village and see further economic activity and job creation in the area,” concluded the Kinnitty based Councillor.
