Clara pulling out all the stops for St Patrick's Day Parade

CLARA is busy making up for lost time and pulling out all the stops for the annual St Patrick’s Day Parade.
Organiser Bertie McMahon is on his bike (literally) going from pillar to post in an all out effort to make the parade a memorable event. This will be Bertie's 63rd parade including Christmas and Patrick's Day Parades.
The last time the parade was held in Clara was in 2019 but then Covid struck and the much loved event was cancelled for two years.
But this year everything will return with its usual colour, bands and craic.
Parish Priest Fr Joe Deegan will be on hand to present the prizes for the best floats. While the Queen of the parade has been named as Caitlin Fleming.
More volunteers are needed to help organise the parade and Bertie is especially keen to attract younger members of the community. He wants to see fresh blood and new ideas being brought to bear on the event.
‘’ If you can help, call Bertie McMahon 0861638088. The parade in Clara is part of the town's heritage and has been a huge success for many years. It has brought great joy to generations. However, the recent lockdowns have led to a drop in volunteers and without new blood the parade could be a thing of the past. If you grew up enjoying the parade perhaps you might be able to give an hour or two back so that the next generations can have their day,’’ said volunteer Barry Flynn. ’
