Community rallies to fulfil wish of daughter of Offaly GAA man after his death

One Offaly community has set up a novel monster raffle in order to raise funds to fulfil the wish of the daughter of a local man who died in September at the age of 50.
Paul ‘Boshy’ Dempsey, who passed away suddenly on September 26, was a married man with one daughter Nadine, "who was his pride and joy," according to friends and colleagues organising the fundraiser.
From Bracknagh, Co Offaly, Boshy was a renowned GAA man was a selector with Bracknagh's junior team in recent years having been a key player on their adult team when the team won the championship in 2000.am.
Paul's daughter Nadine is currently in Manchester studying to be a Veterinary Nurse, and fundraiser organisers explain that her father who was her main source of funding "is no longer able to assist her."
As a result, a group of Paul’s closest friends have formed a fundraising initiative called “A Father’s Wish” to try and offset the financial loss created by Paul’s untimely passing and allow Nadine to continue her studies.
"All money raised will be used to pay for college fees, accommodation, books etc. A fund will be created, and all payments will be offset with proof of expenditure on same," they said.
"We have decided to hold a monster raffle on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Tickets will be sold both online and in person. For more information please like and share our Facebook/Instagram Page - A Father’s Wish. Thank you for your support."
