Council redesign for historic Birr Square proceeding to tender stage

The new design for Market Square, an historic part of Birr, was approved recently by local residents.
The new design will entail improved traffic flow, a more pedestrian friendly space and a market stall area.
“The main objective is to bring life back into that part of the town,” said Cllr Peter Ormond.
The Council said it will now proceed to the tender stage.
Work was originally meant to begin in the second quarter of 2024 but now the Council is saying work should begin in early 2025.
The project will cost €250,000.
