A MOTORIST who was flagged down by a member of the public was convicted of drink-driving.
Sergeant Brendan Kearns told Tullamore District Court that gardai had been alerted on October 16 last year about the driving of Beno Robenek, Riverside View, Letterkenny, Donegal.
The man had been seen driving on the N52 near Tyrrellspass.
A sample showed Mr Robenek to have a concentration of 61 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
A plea of guilty to the drink-driving charge was entered by defending solicitor Donal Farrelly.
The 48-year-old, who had a previous conviction for assault dating back to 2007, worked as a sales manager said Mr Farrelly, and he applied for a postponement of the driving ban.
Judge Andrew Cody fined the man €250 and disqualified him from driving for two years but ordered that the ban not come into effect until June 1 next.
