Gardaí issue appeal after garda impersonator steals cash in the Midlands

Gardaí in the Midlands are seeking information in relation to the theft of cash by a garda impersonator in Laois

It’s understood an elderly householder in the Mountrath area was approached by someone pretending to be a member of An Garda Siochana on Wednesday.  

Gardaí are reminding the public that they do not call homes to check whether or not cash is counterfeit. 

“Reminder to those older or more vulnerable that the Garda do not call looking to check to see if your money is counterfeit and take it from you. Another such theft in Laois today,” gardaí said on social media on Wednesday.
