Gardai launch investigation after people evacuated from apartments after devastating fire in the Midlands

Gardaí in the Midlands are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding a fire at a premises in Longford on Sunday, July 28.

Shortly before 1:30am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to a fire at a premises on Grafton Court in Longford town.

Residents in the overhead apartments were safely evacuated, and the fire was brought under control by local Fire Services. No injuries were reported. The scene remains preserved, and a forensic and technical examination is ongoing.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Gardaí in Longford. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area between 12am and 2am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
