Man and woman were arraigned at Tullamore Circuit Court

A man who threw a firework into a petrol station was told he could have blown up half of Tullamore, when he appeared at last week's district court.

On September 30, 2021, Jake Colleran (19) of Esker Court, Clara threw an ignited firework into the Apple Green service station on Main Street, Tullamore.

It landed at the left foot of a woman, leaving her with ringing in her ears and a sensation in her foot.

Mr Colleran had no previous convictions. Solicitor Donal Farrelly said the defendant was in a very good job as a fabricator. He is hoping to travel. He is very sorry for what he did and has learned his lesson. He is anxious not to be disqualified. He does have another matter before the courts. He was very young when this happened, said Mr Farrelly.

Judge Andrew Cody said throwing a firework into a petrol station meant he could have blown up half of Tullamore.

He adjourned the case to December 21.
