Learner driver in the Midlands facing court date after writing off car just hours after buying it

A motorist is facing a court appearance and a hefty financial loss after a recent crash in the midlands. 

An image of the collision was used by Gardai as a warning for motorists to take care on the roads.  

Gardai say that Delvin Roads Policing Unit in Westmeath recently responded to this road traffic collision.

"An unaccompanied learner driver had only bought the car a few hours beforehand and had no insurance,” Gardai said on social  media. 

They said the driver now faces a court appearance.
