Man carrying two swords arrested on the street in Offaly

A man carrying two swords was arrested on the street in Offaly over Christmas.

Gardaí arrested the man in Birr.

A Garda spokesperson told Offaly Live that at 10pm on Stephen's Night a member of the public contacted the station about the incident, which was happening on Mill Street.

“We attended,” said the spokesperson, “and saw a man carrying a three foot sword and a four foot sword. He wasn't waving the swords or threatening anybody. Both swords were in sheaths.”

He said the swords were sharp and dangerous and that the male was arrested and taken to the station.
