A FINE of €500 was imposed on a man who told gardai to “f... off” and had to be restrained at 3.50am on August 12 last in Tullamore.

Pleas of guilty to public drunkenness and a breach of the peace at Cill Ban, Tullamore were entered by Leon Mollen (31), Agall, Screggan.

Judge Andrew Cody was told by defence counsel David Nugent that Mr Mollen worked as an electrician and had been off drink for a number of years.

Mr Nugent said the accused apologised to the gardai and what he had done was out of character and a stupid mistake.

Judge Cody gave Mr Mollen three months to pay the fine.
