Man in Midlands found not guilty of threating to kill two fishermen

A jury of ten people have acquitted a Longford man of threatening to kill or cause serious harm to two fishermen on two separate dates in 2019.
Thomas McDermott of 68 Cluain na Sidhe, Killashee, Co Longford, was found not guilty of threatening to kill a man on September 25, 2019, and on a date between January and April 2019.
Extensive evidence by four fishermen, a number of Gardaí and Mr McDermott himself was given over three days at Longford Circuit Court.
Mr McDermott, who was supported in court this week by both of his parents, became visibly emotional and relieved when the jury delivered their verdict after less than an hour of deliberations.
The verdict was unanimous.
