Man suffers serious injuries after daylight assault in centre of town in the Midlands

Portlaoise Gardaí are appealing for footage and witnesses to come forward
A man is in hospital with head injuries after a serious assault in the centre of Portlaoise.
Portlaoise Gardai are appealing for information in relation to the assault which occurred at Hynds Square between 7pm and 7.30pm on Tuesday evening.
It’s understood the injured man, who is 23, was struck on the head with a weapon, possibly a golf club, in the Hynds Square area of Portlaoise.
He was rushed to the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise where he underwent treatment for head injuries. Gardaí described the injuries as serious.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who has dashcam footage, CCTV or who may have witnessed the incident to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100.
