Test showed driver stopped at checkpoint had nearly four times too much alcohol

A DRINK-driver told Tullamore District Court he was “a little bit drunk” when stopped by a garda in Birr.

Judge Andrew Cody responded to Artem Tishchenko (36), Convent of Mercy, Frankford, Kilcormac by saying: “You were well over the top limit for drink-driving.”

The court heard that at 1.25am on April 23, 2024 the accused man was stopped at a checkpoint at Wilmer Road, Birr.

When he failed a roadside breath test a sample of his breath was analysed and shown to have a concentration of 84 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22 micrograms.

Judge Cody fined Mr Tishchenko €100 and disqualified him from driving for three years.
