OFFALY'S 3-22 to 0-11 defeat by Dublin in the Leinster Senior Football Championship semi-final on Sunday has been greeted by a surprising reaction. Instead of the “keyboard warriors” having a field day as they call for heads and demand action, the response has not only been surprisingly mute but it has been borderline positive.

Cormac Egan Cormac Egan has been a revelation since moving to wing back early in the league and he had another outstanding game here. It is clear that wing back is his strongest position and he got on a lot of ball, showing a great appetite for work. He flew up the field and took his man on at every opportunity. Once again, his tackling and tracking was very good. Rating – 9.

6.
David Dempsey A model of consistency, David Dempsey was once again rock solid. He was strong on the ball, used it well and got up the field. Rating – 7.

7.
Peter Cunningham Peter Cunningham is one of Offaly's most experienced and best players. He tried hard and did some very good things but was not as prominent as he might have liked. Rating – 6.

Eoin Carroll Playing at midfield at this stage of his career was a big ask for Eoin Carroll but he took it on with everything he had. You can always be sure of the Cappincur man giving it his best and this was no different. He worked so hard and was very efficient on the ball. He may have ran out of steam late on as Dublin emptied their bench and came flying at Offaly but he was solid. Rating – 7.
