Massive cash prizes up for grabs in Offaly town's Christmas lights raffle

CLARA Christmas Lights committee are getting ready to light up the town again this year and they are encouraging everyone to buy local wherever possible and support the local businesses that are currently open.

“Without our local businesses we won’t have a local town.,” said a statement from the commttee this week

In recent years the Clara Christmas Lights held a door-to-door collection to raise funds to support the running and maintenance costs of the lights. They would like to thank all those who supported this collection in the past.

This year however the CCL committee are holding a Grand Raffle draw to raise much needed funds to meeting the costs.

This is an exciting draw with €1,000 in prize money and of course as every other year the winning ticket drawn first will also hit the big switch to turn the lights on in early December (date to be confirmed).

There are just 1,500 tickets available for this draw, so if you not in then you won’t be in with a chance to win one of the following prizes: 1st Prize: €500 and be the person to switch on the lights, 2nd Prize €100, 3rd Prize €100, 4th Prize €100, 5th Prize €50, 6th Prize €50, 7th Prize €50, 8th Prize €50.

You can purchase your tickets from the following committee members: Frances Doyle, Joyce Lowry, Michelle Quinn and Maura Naughton. You can also purchase a ticket on-line with iDonate: https://www.idonate. ie/raffle/Clara ChristmasLights GRANDRAFFLE2024 .

Tickets are also available from members who in the past supported the committee with the door-to-door collection. If you are approached and are unsure please contact a member of the committee to verify those individuals.

The team who put up and take down the lights will be out and about in the coming weeks, please keep an eye for them and be patient. These are all volunteers giving of their time on cool evenings to light up the town.

With tickets selling fast, (almost 500 sold already) don’t leave it too late to purchase your ticket to be in with a chance to win. The committee would like to thank all those who have supported them so far and wish everyone the best of luck in the draw which will take place on Thursday, November 28.
