Moving tribute paid to Ashling Murphy on her 28th birthday
A moving tribute has been paid to Ashling Murphy on her 28th birthday by the memorial foundation set up to honour her memory.
In a social media post, the Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund said: “Today we remember the life of Ashling on what would have been her 28th birthday ~ her fifth heavenly birthday away from those who loved her, and who continue to love and miss her so dearly”.
“Though Ashling is no longer with us, her memory lives on, and her legacy endures in the countless lives she touched during her short but remarkable time with us and in those she will continue to inspire in the years ahead,” the post added.
The memorial fund said it remembered Ashling for her love of music, her unwavering dedication to teaching and learning, her kindness, her generous spirit, her radiant smile and much more.
“Though she may be gone, there is comfort in knowing that her light still shines in the hearts of those she loved, and in the many lives her legacy continues to uplift,” the post said.
The Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund was established in November 2022 with an aim to always remember Ashling for who she was by fulfilling her legacy through the support of young people in the areas of Traditional Irish Arts, Culture and Heritage.
Ashling Murphy was murdered on the 12th of January, 2022 near the Grand Canal in Tullamore, while out for a run.
