Store manager Yasmin Rourke, and her team, cut the ribbon and the store was opened to the public at 8am.
''I am absolutely ecstatic and very grateful to get the opportunity to open a new store in Tullamore, to build our customer base and meet our customers from the local area. I'm from Athlone, it's about meeting new faces and introducing myself to the people of Tullamore,'' said Yasmin.
''The people of the town can expect lots of great offers and great prices every day. We have lots of new special buys coming into the store twice a week. We have a great team here and we are excited to be in Tullamore.''
The new store will deliver 30 new local jobs and represents an investment of €9.8 million in the area. ALDI says this brings its total investment in Offaly to €18.8 million since opening its first store in the county in 2007.
Officiating at the opening this morning, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Senator Pippa Hackett said: ''I'm delighted to officially open the new Tullamore store, the third ALDI store in County Offaly and the second store in Tullamore today.
