New pedestrian lights turned on on busy road in Offaly town

New pedestrian lights have been turned on on a busy road in Edenderry.
The lights came into action on Wednesday morning. The main works were carried out last summer.
Cllr Noel Cribbin welcomed the switching on of the lights and said that thankfully there had been no incidents on the road since the works were completed.
He added, "from now on the many pedestrians and particularly the many school children from nearby Patrick's Wood who cross this busy street daily will now have a safe way to cross, I would also feel that the pedestrian lights will help to slow speeding motorists on this busy street. I thank local engineer John for following up on this important issue on my behalf and to Offaly County Council for agreeing to my requests and funding for this project to be delivered and completed."
