Offaly hurler pleads guilty to assault causing harm

AN Offaly hurler has pleaded guilty to assault causing harm at a sitting of Tullamore circuit court.

Cathal Kiely, St Cormac's Park, Kilcormac was charged with assaulting Artur Rugkowski at the Midland Bar, Kilcormac, on March 19, 2022.

His barrister said Mr Kiely had no previous convictions and came from a very good family background.

Judge Keenan Johnson put the case back to December 5, 2023 for a victim impact statement from Mr Rugkowski.

At a sitting of the district court in October 2022, an application by Mr Kiely's solicitor Donal Farrelly for free legal aid was granted as the defendant was not working.
