Offaly man auctions off lifelong sports collection to fundraise in memory of his son

An Offaly man has raised an incredible amount of money for charity in loving memory of his late son.

Dochas Offaly Cancer Support has shared the heart warming story to their social media today, on Tuesday November 3rd.

The man, Cartage Buckley, recently organised ‘an incredible and memorable fundraiser’ in loving memory of his son, John Buckley.

The Offaly cancer support organisation said that Cartage generously auctioned off an amazing collection of sports memorabilia that he had spent over 68 years collecting.

“He turned a lifetime of passion and treasured memories into something truly special,” Dochas Offaly Cancer Support said.

Thanks to his incredible generosity and the support of everyone who contributed at the fundraiser, an outstanding €16,962 was raised.

“What a wonderful tribute to John and a beautiful way to honour his memory. The time, effort and generosity that went into making this fundraiser such a success is truly appreciated.

“A massive thank you to Cartage and the Buckley family and to everyone who donated, bid, attended and supported the event, thank you from the bottom of our hearts,” Dochas Offaly Cancer Support said.
