Offaly Shed to be re-born after closure due to Covid

THE first Shed in Birr was started/established in 2016 in Green Street. The shed dissolved 2017 for various reasons!
An EGM was called, and the meeting was held in The Shed, Green Street in 2017. As a result, a new committee was formed, and The Shed re-opened again. The hand-over took place and for another twelve months, the shed remained in Green Street.
In 2018 The Shed relocated to John's Hall, John’s Mall, before relocating again in 2019 to a smaller shed behind John's Hall.
The Shed was growing in numbers and was proving to be a key player within the community of Birr, painting benches, railings as well as building or repairing, depending on the project that was proposed by the local groups, Birr Tidy Towns, Birr Mental Health Centre, St Annes etc... New equipment was purchased, table saws, bench drills along with other materials and equipment.
The Shed was growing in confidence and was moving in the right direction. An open door/hub for the community of Birr to come in, have a coffee, a chat or get involved in one of the many projects on or off site and at the same time learning new skills from each other, building a real community spirit, a reason to get out of bed, meet others and share stories.
Every Shed is different with different interests. For example, Kilbeggan are very much into music while Salthill love their garden. A garden would be a huge asset to the Birr Shed as some shedders prefer the outdoors.
Every Tuesday morning clients from St Anne's arrived and got stuck in, rolled up their sleeves and when finished enjoyed a well-earned cuppa and chat!
Since Covid arrived in March 2020, unfortunately, the Shed has not re-opened.
It is now time to re-open the Shed doors again and they would like you to join them for a coffee morning, sit down, have a coffee and a chat. They are open for new ideas and look forward to seeing you at the coffee morning. Everybody welcome!
It will be held on Friday December 16th. Time: 10.30am Venue: John’s Hall, John’s Mall, Birr.
